What is pregnancy massage?
Having pregnancy massage therapy is a great way to enhance your prenatal time and research also shows that it is helpful for the success of a natural pregnancy, healthy birth and baby.
It is one of the most special times in a woman’s life but it can take its toll on your changing body; your hormones are all over the place, you’re feeling tired and then on top of that you have water retention and your muscles ache like you never believed. Plus, you’re not as mobile as you once were so you can’t stretch tension out as you used to.
Essential Feelings specialist prenatal therapist deals with the prenatal effects on your body whilst you lie comfortably on your side and we skilfully applied certified pregnancy techniques to ensure you get all the benefits of a massage in pregnancy that is tailored to your individual needs.

Is there a consultation process?
Yes. If you have a computer, to save your treatment time, we’ll send you a consultation form to complete before you come along for your pregnancy massage. This will allow you to detail any conditions you have such as aches and pains, allergies etc. This will remain confidential between you and your therapist. You will need to sign the form to say that you are happy to go ahead with the treatment.
When you arrive we’ll chat through this to fully understand what you would like to get out of your prenatal massage treatment and establish any areas that will require additional treatment. We will then decide on a treatment plan.

Where will my pre-natal massage take place?
Your pregnancy massage will be in a comfortable, calm treatment room with soft lighting and will be just as relaxing as it is for a standard holistic massage, with the added benefit of extra padding for your utmost comfort at all times.
After your consultation, your therapist will show you to your treatment room where you will undress to your lower underwear whilst the therapist is out of the room.
You will then lie on the massage couch on your side, cover yourself with 2 luxury towels & only then will your therapist re-enter the treatment room. You will then arrange your additional padding to your personal requirements.
I would like to bring on my labour – can pregnancy massage help?
Pregnancy massage can often help bring on a labour, but it is still down to your body to decide when you are ready to give birth. You can also combine your prenatal massages with pregnancy reflexology for a multi-tiered approach.
Why would I not be able to have a pregnancy massage?
There are a few conditions which mean a pregnancy massage would not be the best holistic therapy for somem expectant mums. In this instance, we wouldn’t be able to treat you with a pregnancy massage, but there are plenty of other therapies including reflexology that would be more suitable and we can help and advise you in making the best choice.
