There are very few side effects when you have radiofrequency treatment with Essential Feeling. This is because we use a state-of-the-art machine endorsed and used by the NHS. You shouldn’t feel any pain during or after your procedure. All we’re doing is using a medical grade radio frequency energy to build a heat in the fat layer of your tissue cells so that they are more easy for your body to break down and expel.

That said, there are some factors that you should consider when getting the most out of your radiofrequency sessions.

Body treatments — inch loss, cellulite reduction and skin tightening

The area that we have treated will probably be a pink colour after you’ve had your session. This may last a few hours and could also feel warm when you touch it.

There are many ways that your body removes fat cells (triglycerides) after you’ve had your treatment. One way is through your urinary system so you may notice that when you go to the toilet, that your urine is darker post treatment.

We advise you to drink a lot of water before you have a radiofrequency treatment with us and after too. This helps your body to expel the fat that we soften more effectively.

For the best results you should exercise within 72 hours of your treatment, sooner if you can. Depending on the package you choose, we can assist you with selecting the most appropriate form of exercise for your desired treatment outcomes.

We don’t expect blistering to occur, but in theory it could. So, if this happens please keep this area clean and dry and contact us as soon as possible. Allow the area to heal naturally and please do not use any lotions or creams on open skin for relief as this may increase your chance of infection. Occasionally a rash may occur after you’ve had an Ultrasound Cavitation treatment. This usually subsides within a few days. Again if this lasts longer than a week then please let us know. Don’t pick at grazes or blisters, this may increase the chance of you ending up with a scar. Once the skin heals, use a high protection sunscreen for 12 months so that you don’t get skin pigmentation.

Facial skin tightening

The area we’ve treated with radiofrequency can be red or pink after you’ve had your treatment. This will last a few hours and you’ll probably find it is also warm when you touch it.

There are some occasional instances where bruising occurs. This results from the vacuum suction on delicate areas, usually around your eyes. If this happens, you could expect to see this resolve within around 5 days with no long term effects.

Use a high protection sunscreen after your treatment and limit your exposure to the sun for at least one week post radiotherapy treatment.

You’ll be able to apply your makeup within a few hours.

Immediately after your radiofrequency treatment, your collagen fibres will contract resulting in an improvement in your skin’s elasticity. Your face will therefore appear more firm. Don’t be disheartened if this is temporary as the production of new collagen takes time. It’s normal for this initial tightening to relax and then you must wait for new collagen to be generated by your body.

The best treatments are those that continue for 3 to 6 months.

As above with blistering, this is really unusual, but, it could happen, so if it does, contact us immediately and follow the guidance laid out above.

With all our radiofrequency treatments, if you’re looking to maintain results, then we advise maintenance sessions once per month following the end of your course.

You leave with everything you need for your aftercare

We don’t believe that you should come to us for a treatment and then have to go out and spend money on products that will enable you to get the best results. When you book a session with us, if you need product to help to soothe your skin so that you look your absolute best, then you will leave with that as part of your package.

For instance, we may well use a soothing product on your skin after your treatment. If we think you need that, then we’ll also give you a pot to take away and use at home. We won’t get you in and then try to sell you additional items.

If we do this, it’s important that you know what ingredients are used in these products.

Quick Q&A on radiotherapy

We use the Promax lipo machine, a state-of-the art multi-functional system that four lab physicists following in-depth studies designed, to offer three top-notch body treatments.

We use the radiofrequency devices to achieve, inch loss, cellulite reduction and skin tightening.

How does the radiofrequency machine that you use work?

Our machine uses three different safe and effective Radio Frequency technologies to target your needs.

Ultrasound Cavitation uses sound waves to make fat cells more permeable. This allows them to escape from where they are being held in our body and thus be more easily metabolised. This results in the type of inch loss that we use for our clients looking to reduce size and BMI without surgery either for aesthetic or fertility reasons.

We use this machine to apply radio frequency energy to your skin. This creates a gentle heating which causes a reaction often referred to as ‘wound healing’ and is great for cellulite reduction because we heat the temperature of the deeper layers of the skin to improve blood circulation. It’s at this point we should point out that our blood carries so many nutrients to our internal organs and systems that we believe the health benefits of this radiofrequency machine reach far beyond the beauty results.

Once we have improved circulation, we then use vacuum massage to create extra space for our cells to work. This cavity encourages our body to drain away the fatty tissue deposits into your lymphatic system, which is like a skip that our body dumps all our rubbish in for removal.

This vacuum treatment uses light pressure to also promote fibrous tissue to break down and leading to a reduction in the volume of your fat cells.

During skin tightening procedures, the gentle heating that we use also increases our body’s ability to produce collagen and elastin whilst stimulating contraction of existing collagen and essentially restructuring and tightening our skin.

What conditions respond well to this kind of radiofrequency therapy?

It’s great for post pregnancy ‘lax’ skin, post operation swelling and discomfort from associated restricted range of movement and to treat facial and neck skin tightening to reduce wrinkles and reverse our current signs of aging.

We won’t invite you in for treatment unless we truly believe we can give you excellent results. It’s common for skincare clinics to get a poor rep from having basic training and a lack of general overall knowledge about the issues that are causing their clients to need such systematic therapy.

At Essential Feeling we specialise in the therapies we provide and have invested in excellent training. So, if you have your consultation with us and we think the sources of your problems/ damage are something that we can genuinely help with. Otherwise, we won’t take your booking. We have built our reputation over around ten years on this basis. The primary reason we are in business is because we care about giving our clients significant results. So speak to us, and let’s see if we can help with your particular condition.

Key target areas where radiofrequency skin tightening therapy will be most effective

What areas can be treated?

The equipment is great on fine lines, lower face and neck slackness and general skin tightening overall. It will function in just one area of concern, or you can have a full area done to maximise your results. You can see how long each different area takes.

What does the procedure feel like?

This isn’t considered painful. In fact, many people comment on how pleasurable and relaxing the heating system is. This is due to the multi-frequency technology of the machine we use.

How is the skin tightening therapy carried out?

We apply a layer of contact lotion to the area and an applicator which delivers the RF (radiofrequency) current. By moving this device in a circular motion, your skin will warm. It won’t take long to reach the correct temperature and then we just maintain that for between three and four minutes.

Once we’ve finished the entire area, you would like us to work, we remove the lotion and add a quick lotion and SPF and you’re free to go along with our personalised aftercare advice.

What should I expect after my treatment?

As we’ve discussed the area will be pink afterwards, but this usually subsides within 1 or 2 hours.

Are there any side effects to the treatment?

Side effects are rare, but on these occasions you may experience redness for a day or two and perhaps some slight swelling. Although most people have no problems and find they can go back to work and their normal day-to-day activities straight away.

Is this just for women?

No we work with ladies and men. In fact medical clinics make no distinction and recommends come in from doctors for many treatments and conditions all genders. Particularly post surgery to encourage the best healing response. In fact, we have affiliations with the Harley Body clinic on London’s Harley Street.

Do I need an anesthetic before treatment?

No, this isn’t a surgical procedure and although the radiofrequency machine destroys some pretty nasty fatty particles and is particularly effective, especially with repeated use, you don’t need any medications to enjoy the tremendous benefits of this experience.

How soon after treatment can I go back to my normal activities?

Straight away, if you choose. Personally, whilst we won’t give you specific instructions to rest up after these sessions, we feel it is best to rest for the rest of the day if you can. This isn’t because of any increased risk, pain etc from the session, it’s because if you’re after the best cosmetic result, we think it’s helpful for your body to use as much resource to reacting to the changes the radio frequency has made. And the more a patient rests, the more energy our body can use to detoxify.

That said, we’ve already mentioned that a major part of our detoxification system is the lymphatics. This system doesn’t have a heart to pump the waste out with your heartbeat, so typically if this treatment is combined with a program of activity, then this will help your recovery and outcome.

It’s for this same reason that we also advise you to have a rapid increase in your water intake.

After care is therefore targeted to your specific case and we can advise best in person. For instance, a general guide to jump on a trampoline may be good for some clients, but if we’ve been treating your arm with our device, then our clinical advice may be different.

How many treatments will I need?

Our technology is great, but it’s not a mind reader. It depends on your starting point (for instance, just how much sagging skin do you have and where is it), your lifestyle and your anatomy, how much work do your collagen fibres need?

Though for facial skin tightening, we expect you’ll need a course of between six and eight sessions. If you’re looking for a slimming or cellulite reduction, then between eight and ten sessions. We’re broken these down into cost effective packages.

Is there a consultation procedure?

Yes, before we even book you in for first appointment, you’ll have to check a consultation form which looks at what you’re trying to achieve during this to focus your mind on whether you’re going to get the results you want. Our blog posts and pages in the Skin Clinic let you know honestly what improvements to your symptoms you can expect, how we can help and what you should expect. Please note we do not diagnose.
