What to do when fat removal plastic surgery leaves you with loose and sagging skin.
It’s not unusual after lipo to remove fatty tissue, to be left with excess skin which sags and looks unsightly. Some surgeons (such as Dr Commins at Hans Place) will offer skin tightening, such as Renuvion during your surgery. This helps with skin retraction, but can also result in your body feeling hard to the touch, masking your new muscle definition. Your skin becomes firmer and as a result, your aftercare appointments will be more involved,
But, many doctors don’t provide this service, and so what do you do?
1 Wear a tight fitting and good quality compression garment.
There are many on the market, some are suitable for directly post surgery, and others you should only wear after a few weeks. Many surgeons suggest waiting until the eighth week to remove your garment, but our patients heal so fast most don’t need to wait so long.
The purpose of this is to ensure that we support your skin and therefore is more able to retract back to meet the tissue underneath in the right place. If you don’t wear a specialist garment, such as those supplied by Lipoelastic UK (use code EssentialFeeling for 10% discount and help avoid the need for skin tightening after lipo), then it’s not uncommon for skin to continue to sag, or worse still, stick back to your body in the wrong place. We can sort both issues out at Essential Feeling, but the ideal solution is that you don’t need this extra aftercare because you did it right.
The big difference between lipo and natural rapid weight loss where you burn the high amounts of fat and build muscle, is that as you lose weight through diet and exercise, the tissue under the surface remains intact. The reason you may be more likely to need skin tightening after liposuction is that board certified surgeons will separate your skin from the tissue beneath it. Kind of leaving it floating on the surface. And this is true for many lipo patients.
2 If you’re still seeking tighter skin, we can put some volume back in your skin with our award-winning devices.
Through the clever use of radio frequency heat, targeted to the area of your concern, our certified therapists will heat your subcutaneous tissue, which causes your body’s natural healing response.
The result is that you end up with additional collagen and elastin flooding the place we’ve heated, which is how we tighten skin. And how you’ll see immediate results from our tightening treatments which only get better.
Full disclosure, chances are you’ll need a few to bring those loose and flabby bits into check. But, it’s way more effective than cream and you won’t be wasting your money or time with some cons you’ll see on social media. Plus, radiofrequency requires no downtime for recovery. Literally none. You can leave our treatment space and get right on with your day.
We can use radio frequency all over your body, even your arms and neck. combination

3 Combine this with a renowned ultrasonic fat cavitation treatment to get rid of stubborn areas of cellulite on, e.g. buttocks and thighs.
This is on the same device which uses a fast acting ultrasound procedure to shake up the tight ‘strings’ of tissue which are the effective production of the dimple effect. And this, this is how ultrasonic cavitation is effective to reduce cellulite.
Questions and answers
Will radiofrequency after lipo remove scar tissue bumps?
It will tighten the skin on either side of your scars. So if you have had a tummy tuck lift surgery, for example, which is pulling otherwise loose skin tight creating a saggy overhang (abdominal apron), then it’s the saggy overhang it will help. This technology is purely for skin tightening after liposuction.
But don’t despiar.
For removing the tightness of your surgical incision, you’ll need another device. This is our electroporation microneedling, which is another state-of-the-art device. This will also help with the type of scar left from skin excision and will help to smooth out the bumpy scar tissue.
Does power radiofrequency help with multiple fat lumps and skin looseness?
It can do. We also have deep oscillation techniques as one of our options. But if this doesn’t work, we pull out the big guns and improve elasticity at the same time as helping you with the loss of these unwanted fat spots.
The ultrasound breaks down the fat cells, the thermal frequency melts the fat and the powered lymphatic drainage device removed this with super power efficiency using a sucking which can also loosen stuck skin where fascia has hardened.
This is one way of body contouring, but the same assisted technology can be used if your surgeon has missed a spot, or you don’t quite feel that you’re equal and don’t want to go back under the knife for another traditional liposuction procedure. We can combine this with Lemon Bottle fat dissolving injections for extra help with these stubborn left over areas.
It’s this combination of different high spec options so many of the best surgeons in London and abroad are recommending their patient’s come to us after they have had surgery in their clinic.
Certainly, here’s a paragraph with bullet points highlighting the benefits of each of these skin tightening methods after liposuction:
– Radio Frequency (RF)
– Microneedling with Electroporation
– iPRF and PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma)
– Vitamin Injections
I’ve been told I’m not a candidate for liposuction. Can your technology help patients seeking it who aren’t allowed to have it?
The purpose of the machine we have is to shape and tighten skin. So, depending on what you need and why you aren’t acceptable, we may be able to help within these boundaries.
